What can cause tooth discoloration?

There are many causes. The most common include aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea or tobacco. During tooth formation consumption of tetracycline, certain antibiotics or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.

How does the In-Office System work?

You will be seated in our comfortable dental chair and we will discuss the entire procedure to you. Your gums and tissues will be protected from the bleaching solution first. The activated whitening gel is applied to your teeth. The solution may be refreshed several times during your procedure. The activated bleaching solution will bleach any colored substance while keeping the structure of the tooth unchanged.

Is the In-office procedure painful?

No. During the procedure, patients can actually listen to music or read. Many fall asleep.

Are there any side effects?

Some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear within 1-3 days after interruption or completion of the treatment.

How long is the procedure?

The entire procedure takes just over one hour.

How long does Take-Home Whitening take?

The take-home gel is designed to be worn between 30 minutes, 1hour or 2 hours per application. The strength of the take home solution will be discussed with you. Dr. Thompson will advise you on how long you should wear each application.
