Treatment for periodontal disease starts with a "deep pocket cleaning" called Scaling and Root Planing.  We use a local numbing agent so that the deep pockets can be cleaned.  The second phase of treatment is Periodontal Maintenance.  Based on your specific need the recommeded frequency may be 3 or 4 month recall.  Make the investment in saving your teeth and bone by starting these procedure right away once you have been told you have "gum disease".
